CWSL Library News

Here in the CWSL Librar we are extremely proud of one of our new collections.  These dictionaries are all found in a single location in the Library’s Reference Collection on the first floor of the library and are great for International LLM students.  Most of these dictionaries are English to Native Language and reverse but there are quite a few that are also legal specific.

This collection is helpful to students because it contains dictionaries from many areas of the world and Bill (before he retired) made it a point to try and obtain at least one dictionary from each language spoken by our student body.  Naturally this includes the classic Western European based languages such as French, German, Spanish and Italian but also some of the more rare ones such as Portuguese. In addition we have many Eastern European and Asian languages such as Russian, Armenian, Macedonian, Romanian, Turkish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Cambodian, Tagalog and Vietnamese as well as Hebrew and Arabic. We’ve also tried to include other, more “rare” languages such as Hindi, Farsi (Persian),  Somali, Haitian Creole, and recent additions based upon our current LLM students such as Amharic (Ethiopian) and Kyrgyz (the language of Kyrgyzstan).

If you ever have any questions, concerns or recommendations about any of the dictionaries in this collection, feel free to stop by the Reference Desk and the Reference Librarian on duty would be happy to help.
