Law Student Mentoring Program
The San Diego County Bar Association is offering third year law students an opportunity to connect with practicing attorneys through its Law Student Mentoring Program. The law student mentoring program structured in a “circle” format creating an easier transition for third year law students from education to practice. A circle is made up of approximately 5 students and 2-3 attorneys who have been in practice since before June of 2012, based on a shared practice area interest. The practice areas available are: Bankruptcy, Criminal, Family, General Civil Litigation, Real Property, Trusts & Estates, and Undecided. The Undecided group will have a mix of practice areas for those students who haven’t yet determined which area they are interested in practicing.
The goal of the format is to ease the burden on the participating attorneys, allowing multiple forms of guidance so that if one attorney is busy, the other attorneys involved can step in and continue the mentorship. For the third year law students, the circles allow interaction with students from other San Diego law schools, and provide great opportunity to meet attorneys and experience different practioner styles. All program participants will be invited to attend a kick-off event.
