The SDCBA has put together a panel that will give a condensed, quick hits overview of key issues to be addressed when venturing into contract work.  In addition to practical advice from this panel, you will be supplied with substantial tools in the form of sample documents/articles and lists of resource links to useful websites.

Topics include:

Types of Contract Attorneys, Firms that Hire Them, and Ethical Rules to Follow:
Laurie Rowen, Esq. – Owner and Co-Founder of Montage Legal Group (network of freelance attorneys); brings experience in litigation, family law and class actions.  

Preparation for Contract Work, Where to Find Work, and Things to Avoid:
Laura Sheppard, Esq. – Solo Practitioner specializing in criminal defense; gives contract appearances for several attorneys.

General Practice Issues, Conflicts of Interest, Confidentiality, and Competency:
Tim Dennison, Esq. – California licensed attorney and UK solicitor specializing in patent and intellectual property law; law and business management instructor at Coleman University.

This is a Brown Bag event. Registrations are due by noon on August 10, 2012 to avoid the late fee.  By registering, you are agreeing not to record, photograph or otherwise capture any video or audio of this seminar.  The SDCBA has the right to refuse registrations. Late registrants and walk-ins will incur a $5.00 late registration fee. Registration fees apply to the actual program being purchased and are not transferable to another seminar attendee or online program.  Walk-ins will be accommodated as space allows and is not guaranteed meal service.  Registrations will be held until 15 minutes after the published seminar start time.
