SAN DIEGO VOLUNTEER LAWYER PROGRAM
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – THE LEGAL BASICS OF TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDERS
OVERVIEW: This training is a hands-on training on how to prepare Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and learn the basic statutes and case law. This activity is approved for 1 hour of MCLE. SDVLP certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations of the State of California governing minimum continuing legal education. In order to waive the registration fee, registrants must be members in good standing of the State Bar of California who have accepted 2 pro bono cases in the past 2 years or who commit to accepting 1 pro bono case in the next year; or have volunteered at least twice at our legal clinics or in the office in the last year. The training will be provided by Tania L. Bowman, Senior Staff Attorney for the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, Inc. Ms. Bowman has supervised the work of the Madge Bradley Domestic Violence clinic for the past two years and trained dozens of volunteers. The clinic has successfully assisted hundreds of clients in obtaining protective orders.
