Career Services

Today’s Exploring Options panel event will focus on a variety of specialties within civil practice (as well as outside the traditional law firm setting) from the perspective of experienced attorneys.  In addition to discussing their relative practice areas, the attorneys will offer insight as to how best prepare for practice in the various practice areas represented by the panel.  While lunch was not provided at last week’s event, LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED TODAY, as well as refreshments after the program.

MICHELLE S. PARK, Esq. (Founding Partner/Park Fryar, LLP)

Ms. Park is the founding partner of Park Fryar LLP, an employment and labor law firm representing employers and management.  With more than 13 years of experience specializing in employment and labor law at national and regional law firms, her practice includes litigation of employment-related matters in state and federal courts as well as preventative advice, counseling and training for employers and management.  She has represented clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and public entities to small businesses in all types of employment-related matters including those involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, defamation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, wage and hour violations, class actions and unfair business practices.  She has taught as an Adjunct Professor at several local universities including at CWSL.  In 2011, Ms. Park was recognized by San Diego Super Lawyers Publication for the second year in a row for being among the top employment attorneys in the region.


DOUGLAS GLASS, Esq. (CWSL ‘82/Mediator and Founder – Glass Mediations)

Mr. Glass is one of the most trusted, experienced and respected mediators in California and has served as the mediator in over 2,400 cases involving over eleven thousand parties and attorneys.  Doug is one of only three mediators based in San Diego County listed in both the prestigious Best Lawyers in America® 2011 and San Diego Super Lawyers® 2011 in the category of ADR.  He is also recognized by San Diego Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and U.S. News & World Report as one of the top attorneys in the field of ADR in Southern California.  In 2007, Doug received an Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.  He is a 1982 graduate of CWSL where he served as the SBA President and was the recipient of the President’s Award as the Most Outstanding Student in the graduating class of 1982.

JENNIFER CREIGHTON, Esq. (CWSL ‘99/  Shareholder, Winet, Patrick & Weaver, LLP)

Ms. Creighton’s practice focuses on education litigation, civil litigation and labor and employment law. She also has extensive experience in personal injury litigation. The majority of her career has been devoted to serving public entities, primarily school districts and community colleges, in diverse litigation ranging from defense of personal injury claims to wrongful termination claims. Ms. Creighton has also served as a keynote speaker on topics including Education Reform and Charter School Litigation. She graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1995 with a Major in History and Minors in English and Spanish. Ms. Creighton was awarded a full scholastic scholarship to CWSL, where she was awarded her J.D. Ms. Creighton subsequently obtained an LL.M. from the USD School of Law in Business and Corporate Law with an emphasis in Employment Law and Discrimination in 2001.  She is currently serving as a Vice President of the North San Diego County Bar Association.

ERIC LANE, Esq. (Special Counsel, Luce Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, LLP)

Mr. Lane is an intellectual property attorney with broad-based expertise and experience in both international general practice law firms and intellectual property boutique firms. Mr. Lane drafts and prosecutes patent applications in complex technologies such as medical devices, renewable energy, and clean technology and energy efficiency systems. Mr. Lane is experienced in trademark prosecution and provides strategic trademark advice, including litigating trademark matters before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He counsels small companies and entrepreneurs in patent, trademark and copyright matters, assisting them in protecting the intellectual property assets critical to their livelihoods. He is the founder and author of Green Patent Blog ( and has numerous publications on a wide range of legal subjects including a book entitled, “Clean Tech Intellectual Property: Eco-marks, Green Patents, and Green Innovation”, Oxford University Press, March 2011.  He earned a B.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University and a J.D. from George Washington University.

ERIN ADKINS, Esq. (CWSL ‘10/Assnt. Dir. Of Compliance -University of San Diego Athletics)

Ms. Adkins is the Assistant Director of Compliance for the University of San Diego Toreros. During her years of law school at CWSL Ms. Adkins placed a high interest in Sports Law. Currently in her second year with the Toreros, Erin ensures that all student-athletes, coaches and administrators follow all Division 1 NCAA rules and legislation.    Prior to her work with USD, Erin was a legal assistant for the professional baseball  team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and two local San Diego law firms, Foley & Lardner and Shoecraft & Burton.
